Please DO NOT inactivate any students who finish out the school year (including Track C).  This is for all students, whether they are overflow, moving out of the district, or going to another school in the district.

If their future school is wrong, please call the Help Desk at ext. 7030 and they will walk you through the changes.

If you have already inactivated students, please call the Help Desk so they can correct those records.
 

Zangle Downtime

Rollover is Complete!

On Friday, the New Year rollover was completed.  We want to caution everyone using Zangle to be especially careful when choosing your year, as both 2008 and 2009 are online.

 

Zangle New Year Rollover

This is a reminder that we will be performing the student information system (Zangle) rollover tomorrow, February 1st.  This procedure will make students available for scheduling for the 2008-2009 school year.  While the process does not require a complete system shutdown, as in prior years, you may experience performance degradation during the process.  In order to be able to perform the rollover in an efficient manner, please refrain from running reports and large queries on 2/01/08.

Inputting Grades

Just a reminder that when you put in grades, you have to go to the last day of the semester (i.e. in Zangle Teacher Connection, go to Marks, and change system date in left-hand corner to the last day of the semester).

High School Transcripts Correction

High school transcripts were not calculating electives in the 11th grade.  This problem has been corrected and should be reflected on transcripts.

High School Progress Report 2 Window

The High School Zangle Progress Report window will open tomorrow (September 26) and will close on Wednesday, October 3.  Teachers will no longer enter their progress report or report card marks on a scan sheet, but instead will enter them directly into Zangle using TeacherConnection.

The Zangle Coaches on each campus were offered training after school to learn the procedures for the marks entry.  A simple “Quick Glance” information sheet was distributed to each coach to disseminate to the teachers as a reference (click here to download).   The document is in Microsoft Word format, so if you feel it needs to be customized for your site, please feel free to do so.

Please note that some of the closing windows have been extended (click here to download calendar).  It was noted by some teachers that having the window close on the last day of the Quarter and Semester made it hard to assess the last day, and get it graded in time to enter into Zangle.

Middle School Progress Report 2 Window

The Middle School Progress Report 2 Window closes tomorrow (September 26) at midnight.  The information will be extracted from Zangle the following morning to be merged into the Progress Report to be mailed home to parents.

Zangle Downtime

We were unsuccessful in completing the ZANGLE upgrade scheduled last night due to unforeseen problems encountered during the upgrade process.  Therefore, we will need to take ZANGLE down again tonight, Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at 4:30pm.  During this downtime, the technology staff will be upgrading the ZANGLE system to the current version so we may all benefit from the enhancements that have been made to the system since we went live with Zangle in July.

Please ensure that all ZANGLE users are made aware of this downtime and are logged off before 4:30pm.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience.

"Records Access" Required to Log Requests

Effective immediately, we are required to use the Zangle "Records Access" application to log all student records requests.  (Click here for "how to" instructions.)

Please be aware that all prior year request/information (from SASI previously on the conference screen) was converted onto the "Visits Maintenance" application on Zangle; however, starting with this school year all records requests, such as Cums, Transcripts, etc., must be logged using the "Records Access" on Zangle.

Zangle 101 Training - Friday 8/31

To help support Zangle Beginning Users and new personnel, we will be offering Zangle101 training.  The Zangle101 training is for beginning Zangle users.  The training will cover how to navigate the new SIS system, student profile module and the TeacherConnection module.  Trainings will be held on Friday, August 31st at the District Office, JDP Center. Trainings will be 11:00-12:30 and 2:00-3:30 pm (select only 1 session to attend).

System Delays Anticipated

SASI Now Available for Read-Only

SASI is back up and available for read-only access.  That means, you will be able to view information but not change anything.

Zangle High School Conversion

We're giving SASI the boot!  SASI will be unavailable on Thursday and Friday, August 23-24.  On these days we will be converting all high school data from SASI into the new student information system.  During the data imports Zangle may react slowly, but the system will remain available for all elementary and middle school sites.  On Monday, August 27, Zangle will be available to all sites, while SASI will be read-only (you will be able to view it but not update it).

Zangle Process Report and Marks Module

We are quickly approaching our next Zangle Implementation hurdle – entering student Progress Report information into Zangle.  The first window for the Middle Schools to enter student Progress Report data into Zangle will be from August 17- 24th.  There will not be any Scantron bubble sheets from this point forward.  All Progress Report data and Marks will be entered into Zangle at the Middle School level.  Teachers will need to be given instructions/training (by their site Zangle Coach) on how to do this before the August 17th window opens.  (Click here to download a copy of the Zangle Progress Report and Report Card Calendar).

To prepare Zangle Coaches to train their site's teachers on how to enter their Progress Report data and Marks into Zangle, we will be offering 2 different trainings.  If you understand how to enter the Progress Report data and Marks into Zangle from the Quick Glance – Progress Report/Marks, you are not required to attend training.  If you feel you need guidance, please feel free to sign up for one of the trainings on eJourney.

The trainings will be held on (please only sign up for only 1 training):

  • Monday, August 13th from 2:30- 3:30 pm (District Office, John D. Piazza Building)
  • Tuesday, August 14th from 2:30-3:30 pm (District Office, Building 1, Conference Room)

The Zangle Journey is Beginning

We are beginning to put a little Zangle into everything we do in the technology department. Zangle will be our new student information system beginning on July 9, 2007. Data conversion from SASI to Zangle is no a small task. It takes many hours and many meetings to think about Zangle set-up, rules for entry, usage and training. To help with this daunting task, many sites and district office experts have been asked to participate on the Zangle Implementation Team. These experts will help set up Zangle to meet the needs of the individual users and departments.
